Our Mission in Ethiopia
Drs. Gabriel and Leonel Hunt embarked on their second journey to Africa in January 2013 and third trip in June 2013. They had received word from a friend that an Ethiopian physician and humanitarian, Dr. Yigeremu Asfaw, was in need of some help.
Dr. Asfaw has built and continues to run a private hospital and a medical school. As if that wasn't enough, his compassionate spirit prompted him to build an orphanage to care for children orphaned by AIDS.
The Hunts were moved with compassion and a strong desire to partner with Dr. Asfaw. Given the stable political climate at the time in Ethiopia and the government's cooperation with Dr. Asfaw, the Hunts are optimistic they would be able to help Dr. Asfaw accomplish great things for the people of Ethiopia.
In November 2018, Ethiopia lost a true hero with the passing of Dr. Afaw. To carry on his legacy of service, we continue to work with Dr. Tesfaye Mulat who has been instrumental in keeping the dream alive.
