Thank you for visiting our Web site, and for your interest in our foundation.
Here in the United States of America, the richest nation in the world, a disturbingly significant number of our children are destined to not even graduate from high school. Of those that do, a vast majority will lack the basic skills needed to succeed in their post-graduate lives, with a disproportionate number being minorities. Study after study has shown that the difference between a so-called “at risk” child, and one that is not, is the support that is provided by a child’s family and community.
When I started the Foundation in 2003, I envisioned an organization that would be able to provide the support, leadership and mentorship to reverse this alarming trend. Through our charitable activities at RS Information Systems (RSIS ®), I saw firsthand the difference that time, resources and positive energy could make in the lives of those less fortunate, and sought to take that model and mindset to the next level through the establishment of a foundation.
We at the Foundation believe that, as the old song goes, “our children are our future”, and that together we can make a difference in children’s lives. In addition, I personally believe in the saying that says “from those to whom much is given, much is expected.” I’ve been very fortunate in my life in that I grew up in a loving, two-parent home, attended great schools, and was in a position to build a business such as RSIS. That is why I, along with the Foundation Board of Directors, feel such a strong responsibility to give back to society, and make a difference in whatever way we can.
The task may seem daunting, but I believe that with challenge comes opportunity, so long as the will to face the challenge is there.
